The DevOps Manager is responsible for coordinating and line managing Engineers within one or more development squads delivering functional change, security, support and continuous improvement and maintenance within their own domain and associated domains. Liaising closely with wider IT team, change and wider business.
This Manager role will lead the Dev Ops function, to support the day-to-day backlog items of other squads to remove blockers, build up a backlog of improvements. Deliver project work and drive the move to the Azure Cloud.
Responsibilities:
• Take the lead in the day-to-day technical running of the team including facilitating ceremonies and unblocking team. Think of ways of increasing Squad consistency and throughput.
• Provide technical vision and direction to best support the business needs from a solution and delivery point of view.
• Work with product owners to support roadmap/backlog’ management.
• Manage resources effectively to meet the business demand running multiple complex projects by driving up consistency to commitments within iterations
• Work with the Technical Lead in defining/improving consistent technical standards and best practices.
• Ensure coding standards are followed and suggest improvements/iterations on this.
• Develop and enhance dashboards to become proactive in identifying issues.
• Oversee all Line management duties and personal development of perm developers within Squad.
Qualifications:
• Expert in Software Development Lifecycle
• Public cloud expertise including IaaS, PaaS, serverless, Microservices, SaaS -Particularly Azure
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as code scripting languages such as Bicep / Terraform / ARM templates, Powershell and AZ-CLI
• Containerisation and deployment to AKS
• Experience using Kubernetes,
• GIT/GIT flow and source control using GIT
• Experience of implementing CI/CD and associated pipelines in Yaml
• Experience in a variety of software development approaches and methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
• Experience of coordinating and delivering iterative work packages
• Agile frameworks (SCRUM, Kanban, DSDM)
• Line Management and leading a team of developers.
