Job description
Managerial responsibilities: Take the lead expert role in providing professional Clinical Engineering services across the Trust, ensuring an appropriate and effective service is maintained. Provide detailed specialist advice on all Clinical Engineering and medical device matters. Manage the performance of the Clinical Engineering Department, managed equipment service contractors and other contractual bodies, ensuring contractual compliance and efficient use of funds on behalf of the post holders budget areas and to support other divisional budgets. Responsible and accountable for multiple budgets for the delegated financial codes assigned to this department. This includes the budgets for Rolling Replacement equipment, and all service contracts throughout Darent Valley Hospital, Queen Marys Hospital, Gravesham Community Hospital and Erith Hospital. Budget holder to lead on business planning across the portfolio within the scope of responsibility. Develop, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relating to the provision of equipment management. Formulate long term strategic plans based on divisional business planning and capital activity to include revenue impact assessments for business cases and lifecycle replacement profiling. Where appropriate manage external maintenance contracts for medical equipment, ensuring contractors comply with all relevant site health and safety procedures and controls. Lead the development of Trust policy on medical device management and provide expert advice to those implementing the policies locally. Lead on the process of procuring equipment in an efficient and effective way, ensuring the most appropriate source of funding (purchase, lease,) To support procurement of commissioning support services and the strategic decisions regarding the sourcing of appropriate commissioning support. Provide specialist advice to managers on the technical performance of equipment and identify the most appropriate solutions for the required specifications. Lead on the medium and long term planning of equipment replacement, setting of capital budget allocations and ensuring that the Trust obtains maximum value for money. Responsible for costing of equipment requests and placing orders for departments in order to achieve best value and ensure that standardisation of equipment is maintained.
