What will I be doing?
You will lead and supervise the functions of Elections and Electoral Registration Services to ensure the effective organisation of Parliamentary, Police and Crime Commissioner, Local and Parish elections and Referenda. Somerset Council is responsible for 7 Parliamentary Constituencies and will undergo a Local Government Boundary review in advance of their next scheduled local elections in 2027.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
To be equal to the challenge, you’ll be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, politically aware with a substantial knowledge of electoral legislation with the ability to interpret and apply it. You will have a customer orientated approach along with excellent communication skills to engage with people at all levels of the Council.
Due to the nature of the role, during Election periods and the annual canvass, you will need a flexible working attitude and the ability to work outside of normal core office hours.
