We have an exciting opportunity for Case Officers to work for Lincolnshire Police within their Response Investigation Team, These roles will be based at Boston Lincoln Ln, Boston
You will be working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week and the contract is until end of March 2025.
PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. UNFORTUNATELY WE CANNOT CONSIDER ANYONE WHO DOES NOT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT.
JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
To support investigating officers within the Response Investigation Teams in gathering evidence and third-party material, and the preparation, development, and submission of prosecution files with regards to crimes relating to PIP1 investigations such as domestic abuse.
Demonstrate the force values at all time. All staff involved in carrying out functions in this role will do so in accordance with the principles of the Code of Ethics. The aim of the Code of Ethics is to support each member of the policing profession to deliver the highest professional standards in their service to the public.
CORE WORK AREAS:
- Prepare and submit initial court files to the Crown Prosecution Service ensuring that they meet the standards specified in the Manual of Guidance. Prepare file upgrade for trails in line with the timescales in Better Case Management.
- Request, view and obtain material from 3 rd party organisations across Lincolnshire & in other counties.
- Assist officers with monitoring video recorded interviews to obtain evidence from victims of crime.
- Liaise with other police departments, police forces and outside agencies in relation to the gathering of evidence.
- In conjunction with an investigating officer obtain evidence required as part of a post-charge action plan at the direction of CPS.
- To assist officers within the Response Investigation Teams to gather evidence and prepare case files to go to court.
- To take a victim-focussed approach to all investigations. ensuring compliance with our obligations under the Victims Code of Practice (VCOP) and the Victim's Charter.
- Monitor the continuity of evidence and exhibits in accordance with the provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and force procedures.
- Take supporting statements and prepare other documents in connection with the investigation of crime within the Response Investigation Team remit.
- Attend court to provide assistance to the officer in the case or prosecutor, conduct enquiries requested by the court & provide other assistance as required
- Improve performance through promoting and valuing diversity, in line with the Force Diversity Strategy.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Business administration qualification or equivalent NVQ Level 2 or experience in a similar role
Full UK driving licence / ability to drive in UK either on UK licence or other nationality licences
Previous experience of providing a high-quality administration service
- Previous experience of using Microsoft Office packages, i.e. Word, Excel and competent in the use of IT packages
- Demonstrates lateral vision and a logical process for solving problems
- Communicates effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing avoiding jargon
- Able to demonstrate the values and behaviours outlined in the Force values.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop strong working relationships both inside Lincolnshire Police and within the wider community
- Demonstrates an understanding of data protection issues
- Must be prepared to be subject to Management Vetting, in line with the Force Vetting Policy, and to undertake drug screening.
