Plant Operator
Hourly Rate – £14.00 per hour (plus overtime and benefits)
Hours – 47.5 hours per week
Postcode of depot – CB24 6DQ
As a Plant Operator, you will operate mobile plant such as compactors, 360 excavators and Tracked Loading Shovels, and handle waste efficiently. You will also cover and compact the landfill site in line with statutory requirements and maximise void utilisation.
You will help run and maintain the landfill and work as part of a small team to conform to the requirements of the site permit and best practice procedures. Covering holidays and absences for other Plant Operators, you will also undertake litter picking and other ad hoc duties.

What will you be doing?
- Operating mobile plant, handling waste materials safely and efficiently
- Ensuring that waste is covered at the end of the shift
- Ensuring that waste is properly compacted
- Ensuring that machinery is serviceable at all times, carrying out specified daily checks, as well as lubricating, refuelling and cleaning the machinery
- Keeping stores tidy and monitoring fuel, oil, anti-freeze and site water levels
- Maintaining site wheel wash
- Providing cover for machines
- Reporting any faults or defects for repair
What are we looking for?
- To be ticketed for heavy plant machinery (training can be given for right applicant)
- Health and safety experience
- The ability to work collaboratively at all levels
- The ability to work as part of a small team
- Demonstrable skills in achieving demanding work requirements and ensuring customer needs are met
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- To be performance-driven
- The ability to effectively manage third parties
