Job description
Introduced in September 2021, our Interdisciplinary projects, are a key educational innovation in our progressive-minded school.
Named ‘Explorations’, there are twelve interdisciplinary enquiries spread over Years 6 to 8. Each is allocated 4 to 5 hours per week, taught in a flexible purpose-designed space, and lasts for one term. Students go through a process of ‘Connecting’ to the enquiry question, ‘Constructing’ their knowledge across different subject disciplines, and then ‘Contributing’ to a final project, often with a real-world context. Many of the Explorations have a social justice or community-based dimension, and all enable the students to take a leading role in their own learning.
The Explorations are built around developing the Knowledge, Skills and Qualities set out in the ‘KAS Deeper Learning Wheel’. Progress is captured through digital portfolios, and there is a strong emphasis on metacognition.
We are now looking for a leader who will drive forward our Explorations programme from September.
You will be responsible for:
Strategic leadership
Leadership of the educational design and provision
Leadership of the Explorations team
Teach an appropriate timetable of lessons
