Job description
A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Our Participation and Experience team support the engagement of service users, families and carers in all aspects of services, both at an individual and service-wide level. Their role is also to collect experience data from service users, promote service user involvement, and support teams to use experience data to bring about changes and improvements working alongside our service users and families in order to co-produce improvements from the start. We are looking for candidates who have a real interest in service user and family experience and be recovery focussed in your approach. The team has been increasing its focus on developing a more structured approach to service user, family and carer participation through the evolving Expert By Experience programme. We will be continuing to develop this programme and the EBE training that we currently provide and work towards developing a robust pathway of experience and learning for our service users, families and carers. A further key feature of our service is to thread specific family and carer engagement work throughout all team roles rather than one, individual role, thus increasing the visibility and drive to improve the experience of families and carers across the Trust. Working predominantly within inpatient settings, the purpose of the role is to provide a visible and effective service user and family/carer engagement presence in services, supporting the engagement of service users and families/carers in all aspects of services, both at an individual and service wide level. Key to the job is working in a way that consolidates systems and processes to engage people, mainstreaming into daily operational activities where possible, to firmly embed engagement as a routine part of practice all relating to working from a model of co-production and collaboration engaging service users, families and carers as partners. Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Our 4000 clinical and support staff help us to improve mental health wellbeing and meet the needs of the 70,000 people we serve each year. We provide a range of mental healthcare services across Birmingham and Solihull, as well as specialised services nationally. We also offer medical, nursing and psychology training and are proud of our international reputation for both research and innovation. Our population is culturally diverse, characterised in places by high levels of deprivation which create an increasing demand for our services and a necessity for us to make sure everyone can access the help they need. We are a team of compassionate, inclusive and committed people working together to provide excellent care to support our community. If you are looking for a place to belong, where you can make a real difference to people’s lives, join our team where our warm welcome is waiting for you.
