Senior Veterinary Surgeon
Bedford Companion Care
Salary up to £65K (depending on experience)

We have an unmissable opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team in Bedford Companion Care. We are an RCVS accredited small animal practice with x-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, haematology, biochemistry, dentistry, and isolation. We are accredited silver cat friendly and rabbit friendly clinic. We believe in a good work life balance and are happy to accommodate a flexible rota. We also have a visiting ophthalmologist and peripatetic surgeon for orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue surgeries. We are keen on sustainability and use low flow anaesthesia, segregated recycling, and fur clipping recycling (making mats to soak up oil spills).

We are looking for an experienced vet who feels confident with routine surgical and medical cases and who enjoys building strong relationships with patients, clients and the wider team. This is a full-time position including a 1 in 4 weekend rota but no OOH. Keen surgeons or interest in imagery would be advantageous.

You'll be joining a close knit, friendly and supportive team made up of 5 experienced nurses, 1 student nurse, 2 VCAs, practice manager and an amazing client care team. One regular locum recently described our team as ‘the best [he has] worked with' and two of our previous vets regularly return as locums. The team holds a variety of interests from behaviour and wellness through to exotics! We always encourage CPD and are happy to support study towards a Certificate. A keen interest in surgery or imaging would be welcomed but not essential.

Our Veterinary Partners have clinical freedom, and you will also have the support and benefits of working for the Vet Group. The team sees a wide variety of cat, dog, rabbit and exotic medical and surgical cases and offer 15-minute consults as standard.
