Job description

Our client is a well-respected privately owned business operating within the Construction / House Building Industry across the UK.

As part of the companies continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist a progressive and ideally Qualified Accountant to join the business.

Overview

The role will form integral part of the finance team and is centred around delivering the Group’s internal and external financial reporting obligations in an accurate and timely manner.
The key responsibilities will include the preparation of monthly consolidated accounts and cashflow forecasting alongside involvement in cyclical budgeting, forecasting, audit, tax and statutory compliance as well as other group matters.

This role will report into the Group Finance Controller, work closely with the Operational Finance Director and share time between 2 offices (Midlands and North England) as well as working from home

Duties
• Prepare accounts for head office companies including SPVs.
• Produce monthly consolidated accounts and financial statements.
• Prepare spend analyses and cashflow projections for SPVs and liaise with funders and external valuers.
• Carry out variance analysis against budget and forecast.
• Manage the group’s shared equity loan book.
• Produce weekly consolidated cashflow reports for the executive.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are up to date and consistent across the group.
• Collaborate with regional finance teams and the wider business.
• Prepare budgets and forecasts for head office companies and group.
• Prepare subsidiary and consolidated statutory accounts and support with the audit.
• Preparation of tax packs and liaising with external tax consultants.
• Identify accounting challenges and prepare the group’s response.
• Continuously contribute to the enhancement of systems, controls and processes.
• Deputise for the group financial controller as needed.

The ideal candidate will be working towards ACA / ACCA / CIMA if not already qualified and
Have previous experience gained within a similar role working across Financial, Group and
Management Accounting.
Previous experience gained within Construction / House Building is desirable but not essential
and those working within practice but seeking a move into industry will be considered.

• An enthusiastic, confident self-starter who is prepared to take responsibility and research answers independently.
• Someone who is used to working to tight deadlines and prioritise effectively.
• A team player with strong communication skills who is able to forge and maintain relationships across the business as well as with external consultants.
• A high degree of accuracy and an eye for detail.
• Willing to delve into the detail and understand systems and processes.
• Does not simply carry out tasks by rote and does not just repeat what has been done before.
• Strong Excel skills are essential.
