Job description
What you will do in your working day
- To contribute to a high-quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities
- To attend team meetings and participate in sharing ideas
- Provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing and feeding
- To assist with meeting the personal, social and emotional needs of individual children
- To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys, share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life and prepare written reports for parents, in conjunction with senior members of the team
- To provide adult interaction with children in the nursery
- To attend all training relevant to the role and deemed appropriate by the manager/training provider
- To be aware of and abide by the nursery’s confidentiality policy and all other policies the manager deems appropriate
- Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
The training you will be getting
As an Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to study the following through this Apprenticeship:
- Early Years Edcuator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification
- Functional skills English and maths if required
- At Havant & South Downs College we offer different methods of delivery either work based or day release dependent on the course. This will be discussed with you upon appointment
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Successful candidates may be offered a full-time position at the nursery on completion of the course and there is a clear career pathway which allows practitioners to progress through roles and then ultimately to management
