The role
We are looking for a Software Development Team lead to join AALTO in Farnborough. You will report to the Design Team Leader and be responsible for leading and inspiring a small team in the development and maintenance of Zephyr’ certifiable Software.
Your role will be to lead your team through all stages of software development, from gathering requirements to deployment and ongoing maintenance. It's not just about coding; it's about creating a seamless experience for our stakeholders and ensuring Zephyr's software remains top-notch.
Responsibilities:
Inspire and Lead: Provide inspirational technical leadership, managing the team's day-to-day tasks and technical scope.
Compliance Assurance: Act as the Software Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), assuring regulators that our software development processes meet the highest standards.
Requirements Management: Elicit, analyze, and derive requirements from stakeholder needs. Manage interface requirements and changes, including impact analysis.
Design Excellence: Design software changes, ensuring compliance with coding standards and utilizing dynamic and static testing tools.
Testing Mastery: Ensure software is thoroughly tested, meeting our development standards.
Skills & Experience:
We understand that everyone's journey is unique, and we welcome applications from all backgrounds. However, it would be great if you have experience in:
Leadership: Leading and inspiring software development teams through the entire development lifecycle.
Regulatory Know-How: Working with Aviation Regulators and/or Part 21 organizations.
Safety First: Implementing DO178 and 278 processes at higher DALs. Experience in developing safety-related/critical systems, preferably in the Aerospace sector.
Technical Aptitude: Interfacing with Complex Electronic Hardware (FPGAs, etc.).
Documentation Ninja: Creating and managing requirements, design, test, and software process documentation.
Other Useful Skills and Experience:
Coding Wizardry: Functional embedded C, Visual C++ with MFC/.NET, Python (for test scripts), MISRA-C coding standard.
Toolbox Mastery: Eclipse IDE, Tortoise SVN (Change Control System), Modeling in UML (Sparx Enterprise Architect), Trace32 (Dynamic Analysis), PC-LINT (Static Analysis).
Aviation Enthusiast: Familiarity with aviation, particularly flight control systems.
Innovation Lover: Knowledge of machine learning/AI.
