Job description

Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors and who is looking for multiple experienced professionals to join them on permanent basis. This role is for a Principal Engineer - Active Travel located in Newcastle. Job Description: The role will focus primarily on the technical deliver of active travel projects of varying complexity across North East. Working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technicians and other professionals, you will be part of the design team responsible for delivering active travel designs which includes producing technical reports, drawings and specifications to relevant standards. Some of the main responsibilities include:

• Project management and/or leading active travel schemes, from feasibility design through to detailed design.
• Supervising production of 3D models and scheme drawings.
• Co-ordinating the active travel design process and integrating with other design disciplines within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Keeping up-to-date with current methods and design guidelines.

Requirements

• Experience to lead active travel schemes in various scales for local authority clients.
• Ability to lead project team to develop robust, practical, safe and innovative active travel solutions.
• Understanding of the application of technical guidance and standards, such as Cycling by Design, Designing Street, National Roads Development Guide and Inclusive Mobility.
• Ability to work within multi-disciplinary projects with other disciplines including Highways Engineers, Active Travel designers, Traffic Engineers, Landscape Architects, Drainage and Structural Engineers.
• AutoCAD design experience.

Desirable Criteria:

• Full driving licence.
• Cycling experience.
• Civils’ 3D and / or GIS experience
• Use of MS Office, including working knowledge of MS Project.
