We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Crewe area, initially on the Crewe Southern Gateway project with further projects across the Cheshire and West Midlands area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Management: Monitor and control project costs throughout its lifecycle. Conduct regular cost reviews, cost estimates, and budget updates.
- Quantity Surveying: Prepare, review, and manage bills of quantities (BoQ) and other measurement documentation. Ensure accurate measurement and pricing of works.
- Contract Management: Oversee the contract administration process, ensuring compliance with either NEC 4 (New Engineering Contract) or NEC 3. Handle contractual matters, claims, and variations effectively.
- Tendering and Procurement: Lead the tendering and procurement process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and contract award recommendations.
- Subcontractor Management: Collaborate with subcontractors, ensuring their performance aligns with project objectives.
- Manage payments and contract obligations.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor risk throughout the project's life cycle.
- Change Management: Process variations, change orders, and claims, keeping detailed records and ensuring compliance with the chosen NEC contract.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain quality standards by reviewing construction materials, methodologies, and workmanship.
- Progress Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely project reports, including cost forecasts, cash flow analysis, and project progress updates.
- Client Relations: Maintain a positive working relationship with the client, providing regular updates and addressing their concerns and queries. Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Chartered status or working towards chartered membership (e.g., MRICS).
- Proven experience in quantity surveying and cost management, specifically in public realm contracts.
- Experience with NEC 4 contract management is preferred, but candidates with experience in NEC 3 will be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software for quantity surveying and cost management. Personal Attributes:
