Job Summary: Head of Technical

I lead the strategic delivery of safe, legal, responsibly sourced, quality products in an agile Marketplace team while always focusing on delivering for our customers, living our values and leading a hard-working team

About Marketplace

Marketplace is a brand-new online venture for Tesco, designed to give our customers the opportunity to use our website to shop for a wide range of third-party products in addition to the groceries they already know and love. Our initial focus will be on pet food, health and beauty products and alcohol, and as with other online marketplaces, sellers will fulfil orders directly. You will be responsible for

• Leading my team to ensure sellers provide safe, legal & responsibly sourced product listings that meet relevant Tesco policy requirements and customer expectations
• Establishing and evolving processes that allow for the delivery of the above at scale, at pace and in line with the Marketplace strategy - across Food, Non Food Grocery & Home
• Constantly risk assessing ways of working with multiple lenses - resource, legality, safety, reputation, commercial - and adapting approach where required. Leading the team through transparency and purpose
• Leading a team of experts, mentoring and enabling them to achieve the Technical KPIs and be the guardians of Tesco brand integrity
• Leading the review of quality feedback across sellers, identifying and resolving risks to the brand
• Incident management (e.g. potential EPWs and recalls) and enforcement challenges in my category when raised
• Driving innovation and improvements in quality by collating and inputting ideas in to the Marketplace team, including Online benchmarking and horizon scanning
• Point of escalation for risks identified through the seller onboarding critical path
• Owning the Technical plan to support the Marketplace online strategy & ensuring alignment with group quality plan
