Job description
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Global IP Administrator/Paralegal to support our client on a global scale. My client is an industry leader, with a proven track record of over 140 years and a reputable heritage to be proud of.
As a a Global IP Administrator/Paralegal will be working at a senior level and be responsible for running IP completely and supporting the business. Working alongside a third party law firm, connecting all departments together, whilst creating and managing IP.
The role
As the Global IP Administrator/Paralegal you will be responsible for managing the global patent and trademark portfolio of the group with the objective to ensure best possible use and protection of the IP across the group (making IP available to relevant managers and colleagues, monitoring competitors activities and potential IP infringements, assisting managers and attorneys in protecting IP against infringement, assisting in legal IP proceedings.
This role is the interface between Line Managers, inventors, patent and trademark attorneys, patent and trademark renewal agency and is responsible for the coordination of all IP related activities in relation to
- Prior art and patentability searches; availability searches relating to trademarks
- Patent and trademark applications and prosecution
- National phase of patent applications
- Patent and trademark renewals
- Office Actions and Examination Reports issued by patent and trademark authorities worldwide
- Legal aspects of IP
- Monitoring of deadlines (renewals, responses to Office Actions, Examination Reports et al.)
- Arranging evidence of use documentation (in connection with trademark renewals)
- Assisting in preparing annual budget and in ensuring budget compliance
- Managing and continuous updating of IP database, including relevant intercompany and third-party agreements
- Quarterly reviews of royalty calculation of the organisation subsidiaries based on intercompany license agreements
- Keeping track of chemical formulation transfers within the group (as backup for tax audits)
- Comply with SHES Charter
- Manage IP cost tracker; review and approve invoices
- Royalty reviews / updating schedules of licensed products regularly for royalty calculation
- Assist in preparing calculation of royalty entitlement of German employees / inventors in line with German Employee Invention Act
- Carry out online prior art searches, where possible, to reduce fees payable to patent and trademark attorneys
About you?
- Experience as an IP Paralegal/Administrator within a complex, international environment involving mining, civil engineering, infrastructure or manufacturing
- Fluency in English is a key requirement; this includes thorough knowledge of legal and technical terms
- Sound knowledge of legal requirements and good understanding of IP legislation in core countries
- Sound knowledge of product portfolio and application types, interface between disciplines
- Sound knowledge of protected technology
- Problem solving & project management skills
Package
- Salary £50,000 - £70,000 depending on experience
- 10% annual bonus subject to company performance

- Fully remote working is possible, but the office in Barnsley is available should you wish to go into the office
- International travel is approximately once per quarter
