Job description

The Examinations Officer leads the School Examinations Team and is supported and line-managed by the Deputy Head Academic.

You will be the main point of contact between the school and the examination/awarding bodies and will need to liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (in particular the Deputy Head Academic), the SEN Department, Heads of Department, teaching staff, candidates and parents/guardians. You will also be responsible for the organisation and work of any examination invigilators and/or facilitators.

You will have experience within a school examinations team and previous experience of managing a team would be valuable. Essential skills for this role include the ability to remain calm under pressure and a high attention to detail.

You will need to be familiar with the regulations laid down by the awarding bodies and with JCQ and ensure the school remains compliant.

It is a requirement that the Examinations Officer is available in school on the days preceding and following the days of A level, IGCSE and GCSE results: these dates currently fall in August. It is also necessary for the Examinations Officer to be available at least on email (and with access to the internet) for students and parents during the ‘priority’ period of enquiries about results (usually the week after the publication of A Level results).
