Job description
What you will do in your working day
- The apprenticeship includes manufacturing processes such as milling, turning and hand fitting/bench skills
- You will use a range of equipment CNC and manual machines.
- Maintenance of mechanical devices and equipment, maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
The training you will be getting
- Year 1 – Apprentices will attend college one day per week undertaking foundation training and the basics of both Mechanical and Electrical maintenance. In addition, they will spend 4 days at work working towards level 2 basic machining and handfitting skills
- Year 2 – Apprentices will attend college for 1 day per week as they undertake year 1 of 2 of a BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Multiskilled). At work they will move into the appropriate maintenance department to support them building a portfolio of evidence for the NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance.
- Year 3 – Apprentices undertake year 2 of 2 of the BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Multiskilled) for 1 day per week at college whilst continuing their NVQ Diploma at work.
- Year 3.5 – Completion of the NVQ Diploma in Engineering maintenance and preparation for the final End Point Assesment
