4 posts are for Council Tax officers and 4 are for Housing Benefit officers
Job Context

1. The post holder reports to a Council Tax and Benefits Team Manager.
2. The post holder will be expected to work across any of the service points within the service.
3. The post holder will work flexibly and work as an effective team member.
4. The post holder may be required to undertake home visits or property inspections.
5. The post holder will be required to work some evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays in order to meet service requirements and in order to ensure appropriate representation of the Council with residents, the Mayor and elected members, and external bodies.
6. The post holder will be required to wear a uniform and to ensure that all staff adhere to this dress code.

KNOWLEDGE:

Good knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit legislation and other welfare benefits.
And/or
Good knowledge of Council Tax legislation.

Understanding of Data protection, Freedom of Information and related security and confidentiality policies and procedures.

Detailed knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit legislation and other welfare benefits.
And/or
Detailed knowledge of Council Tax legislation.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience of processing all types of housing and council tax benefit claims and dealing with all associated tasks.
And/or
Experience of dealing with all tasks relating to the collection of Council Tax.

Experience of appropriately applying knowledge of Housing and Council Tax benefit and/or Council tax legislation and regulations.

Experience of working within a customer-focused front-line service, in the public, private or voluntary sector.

Experience of operating, updating and retrieving data from IT systems.

Experience of working effectively across disciplines.
