Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled Caretaker to join our team at a reputable school in Birmingham (B9). This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth running and maintenance of our school premises.

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Salary: £11.42 per hour
Shift: Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 14:00 / 11:00 - 19:00 on rotation each week. 
Weekly Pay (Fridays)

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of the school premises, including classrooms, hallways, offices, and outdoor areas.
• Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, minor repairs, and basic plumbing.
• Monitor heating, ventilation, and electrical systems to ensure their proper functioning.
• Assist in setting up and arranging furniture and equipment for various school events and activities.
• Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment, and reorder items as necessary.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and resolve any issues efficiently.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and address them accordingly.
• Collaborate with staff, contractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient operations.
• Provide assistance during emergency situations, following established protocols.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a caretaker or in a similar role.
• Excellent knowledge of cleaning techniques and maintenance procedures.
• Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
• Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
