We are looking for a Body Structures Project Engineer who will support the design and development of the Underframe and Upper Body Structure systems aligned to Engineering specification, target costs and project deadlines

Who and what will you be working with?
You will be working within the Body Structures and Safety team, building strong relationships with parallel Engineering functions, key business stakeholders, internal and external Subject Matter Experts, Business Analysts, Functional Consultants & Project Managers. You will also present to senior leadership within the organisation. In this role you will be reporting to the Lead of Body Structures.
We’re using Microsoft Office, Atlassian and other tools to keep our work running smoothly, so you can expect to deal with things like MS Teams, JIRA tickets, Smartsheet, etc., on daily basis.
What will you be responsible for?
- Work with test & validation teams (T&V) to develop a robust plan for Body Structure DV & PV testing, including input into rig design & test methods as an output from CAE/requirements deck, DFMEA & materials testing plan
- Work with the Body Structures Lead to ensure programme deliverables and milestones are achieved
- Manage suite of national & international suppliers through D&D, manufacturing & build phases
- Manage Body Structures commodity plan to include supplier timing, testing & development loops in alignment with virtual series and programme gateways
- Manage all Body Structures Engineering releases including planning, preparation, submission & tracking
- Budget management for recurring and non-recurring costs (piece cost, tooling, Internal/external D&D), including risks & opportunities tracking
- Carry out costs analyses & feasibility studies to support 'make v buy' assessments & support Engineering with system selection
- Support Purchasing in the short-term & long-term strategic sourcing of suppliers for prototype & production builds, including technical RFQ/cost pack preparation
- Ensure appropriate metrics and tracking methods are in place to enable efficient commodity progress, issue resolution & tracking
- Support Lead Engineers in cross functional communication with Operations, Procurement & other Engineering teams
- Support design & package reviews where required, specifically in relation to any supplier DFM/DFA input
- Work closely with colleagues in Manufacturing to ensure design for assembly (DFA) & PFMEA requirements are catered for in design
- Lead the engineering requirements definition, population & tracking and ensure system targets are met in line with FESO targets
Who are we looking for?
To help achieve our goals, we need someone with:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
- Min 5 years’ experience in Automotive Body Engineering
- Must have an understanding of Body Structures design & commodities in both steel & aluminium (casting, stampings, extrusions, fabrications)
- Must have a knowledge of body structure joining methods including adhesive, rivets & welding
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills & strong team player
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages, including Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint
- Pro-active, self-disciplined, motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Sound knowledge of vehicle crash/safety and NVH requirements is preferred
- Sound knowledge of vehicle package and architecture requirements is preferred
- Use of Computer Aided Design viewing software (Teamcenter and Vis Mockup) is preferred
