Salary – £44,474 – 54,609 pro rata (£22,237 - £27,305 per annum)

Salary Grade – Soulbury Scale A points 2 – 7 plus up to 3 SPA points

Trafford EPS is a friendly team of Educational Psychologists. We apply a consultation model to support children, families and schools and there is a strong commitment to person-centered approaches and co-production. We also have a strong commitment to social justice and anti-discriminatory practice within our team.

Trafford LA operates a fully traded model of service delivery and school’s buy in Service Level Agreements (SLAs) at the start of the academic year, typically at least 30 hours for a primary school and at up to 120 hours for a large secondary. Work in schools is a combination of consultation, assessment, and training, there is also the option to develop therapeutic work in schools. 

Trafford EPS values, and proactively seeks, systemic project work and innovation within practice. Over the past few years we have cultivated a number of creative commissions including:

- EP secondments to other teams within Trafford Council (e.g. Early Years Service, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service);EPs working within Trafford’s Autism and Social Communication Pathway to support multidisciplinary assessments and strategic decision making;

- EPs working within Trafford’s Virtual School to complete casework and support systemic projects (Attachment and Trauma Aware schools,

- Emotional Literacy Support Assistant training and supervision, Relationships Policies);

- Leading on the development of a multi-agency Emotionally Based School Non Attendance (EBSNA) pathway;

- Using Video Interaction Guidance (VIG)/Video Enhanced Reflective Practice (VERP) interventions with parent/carers and education practitioners. 

EPs interested in developing a specialism are supported to work towards this goal and encouraged to take a lead in developing the team’s knowledge and expertise in the area.

In addition to SLA time, all Educational Psychologists provide statutory advice for Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) needs assessments. 

Applicants to this post are required to have a professional qualification in Educational Psychology (MSc or Doctorate) and registration with the HCPC.

An enhanced DBS check is also required for this post.

About you

On taking up post, you will be a fully qualified Educational Psychologist looking for an opportunity to apply your skills to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in Trafford.

Applicants for these posts are required to have a psychology degree and a professional qualification in Educational Psychology and registration with the HCPC.

About the Role

As an Educational Psychologist you will be supporting a patch of schools made up of primary, secondary and special. We endeavor to ensure a good fit between EPs and the schools they support.

All Educational Psychologists are provided with a laptop, phone and assessment kit. We work a flexible model of home working, work in schools and office visits. We have significantly increased our skills in the use of ICT and all of the team are confident and competent in using video conferencing for the purpose of consultations and training etc.

An enhanced DBS check with children/adults barred list check will be required

The EPS has a number of desk spaces in Sale Waterside and you will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office.

The EPS hold a range of resources in the form of assessments, books etc. and all Educational Psychologists are provided with an assessment for their own professional use.
