Job description
University Hospitals Dorset (formally Bournemouth & Poole Hospitals) is seeking a friendly, hardworking and trustworthy person on the Poole site, who can work within a busy stores environment within a Catering dept/team to provide freshly cooked food to our patients and staff.
As a member of the catering team you’ll be responsible for providing an efficient, high quality dedicated food and beverage service, operating in compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures.
Whilst you will have experience of working in a similar environment and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate, COSHH and allergen training (or willingness to work towards it), your commitment to customer care, first class service and belief in teamwork are just as important.

Your tasks could include
1. Receiving and checking stock/deliveries
2. Running the catering stores; keeping accurate records & being detailed.
3. This role involves a lot of moving and handling,
4. May include some food handling to assist in simple food preparation in a chilled and/or frozen working and storage environment
5. Cleaning of the stores area
This post requires a consistent and regular approach to hours of work to meet the needs of our customers and patients whilst being supportive of the large food service operation at the UHD.
A driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during 2025/26, when thisrole and base of work could relocate to Royal Bournemouth Hospital site. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

• Carry out end of day cleaning tasks in line with cleaning schedules.
• To assist in the smooth running of the department by maintaining and organising the efficient running off the Catering store areas; checking in all goods, maintain an accurate set of records, weighing all recipes and delivery to relevant location, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, Food storage and H&S. Supervise other members of staff allocated to assist in the stores
