Clinical Research Nurse/Practitioner

This is an exciting opportunity to join the research delivery team at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and play an important role in helping to deliver alternative or new, potentially life-changing, treatments for our service users.

We are looking for two enthusiastic and self-motivated band 6 clinical research nurses/ practitioners, to deliver our portfolio of multi-specialty research studies. The posts will be up to full time hours (number of hours can be negotiated if required) on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The successful applicant will work as part of the research delivery team, coordinating and supporting a range of research studies, both commercial and non-commercial, covering multiple specialties. The post holder must ensure that all research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted in accordance with the principles of ICH Good Clinical Practice. The post combines an interesting, challenging mix of patient contact and clinical research activities and thus presents excellent opportunities for job satisfaction. You will be working within a small friendly and innovative multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of multiple research studies, from set up to archiving. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that all research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research. Duties will include recruiting participants into studies, conducting research assessments and procedures at various time points, capturing source data, updating electronic databases and resolving data queries in a timely manner.

You must be able to demonstrate an ability to manage your own workload and that of others, to work under pressure and to work flexibly as part of a team, to ensure the needs of the patients and service are met.

Main duties include:
• To coordinate the delivery of research across multiple specialties and manage a portfolio of trials and associated resources, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
• The role requires knowledge of the Research process to enable them to undertake high quality research, this will be underpinned by a degree level qualification/ relevant experience.
• The post-holder will actively promote research amongst clinicians, service users, carers and the wider NHS.
• To identify patients eligible for entry into research studies according to specific protocols and guidelines. This will include attending clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings, reviewing medical notes and inclusion/exclusion criteria.
• To contribute to the consent process from patients/participants to enter research studies as delegated by the PI. This includes CTIMP trials.
• They will be responsible for ensuring patient’s treatments, assessment, follow-ups and data collection is coordinated and processed according to the appropriate research protocols.
