Job description

We are seeking a full time, all year round,  Finance Manager  to join our organisation.  This is an exciting and incredibly important key senior position reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations (DFO) and leading a very happy team of four (covering payroll, purchase ledger and billing).

King’s Schools Taunton oversees two prestigious independent schools: King’s College and King’s College Prep and has two subsidiaries for lettings/enterprises and our overseas schools. We benefit from being part of the Woodard Corporation. The finance function exists to help enable King’s to deliver the highest quality of learning and pastoral support for our pupils as part of our charitable aims.

The Finance Manager is responsible for executing the financial tasks including the day-to-day running of the finance office, audit related works, preparing up to date financial reports and forecasts, budget monitoring and control and managing HMRC returns (including VAT), payroll and pensions. You will support the DFO by contributing to the overall corporate reporting of the Schools financial position.

The candidate will have a sound financial background and, with the DFO, be able to identify ways to optimize corporate spending. Ideally, you will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) – although not essential and have considerable experience in a comparable senior finance role, including working with monthly management accounts and financial statements and implementing new procedures. With a strong financial position including no debt and increasing interests overseas, King’s is well placed to face the challenges ahead and the Finance Manager will play a key part on this continuing exciting journey.

The role will attract a competitive salary as well as generous benefits including employer pension contribution, free school lunch, free on-site parking, discretionary staff discount on school fees and use of the indoor swimming pool and sports facilities.
