Job description

We are seeking a consultant ENT surgeon for a permanent job in a public sector hospital in New Zealand. You will join a team of five ENT specialists providing high quality care, improving equity and health outcomes for the local population, with a high Māori and Pasifika population. The team is supported by two registrars, a house officer and four Clinical Specialist Nurses. The department is well equipped for all aspects of modern ENT health care and is undergoing innovative expansion and modification with new public and private operating theatres and other facilities under construction.




Role Responsibilities include:

  1. To provide high quality care to ENT patients, both acute and elective 
  2. To participate in the acute ENT on call roster
  3. To provide inpatient and outpatient care
  4. To support and lead junior medical staff and take an active role in interdisciplinary team education and actively support and utilise specialist nurse roles as appropriate
  5. To actively participate in quality improvement, clinical audit activities and service development meetings and initiatives 

Essential Role Requirements

To be successful in your application for this opportunity as the ENT Surgeon we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history 

  1. Medical Degree
  2. Eligible for provisional or full vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  3. FRACS or equivalent qualification in ENT Surgery
  4. Experience in a wide range of ORL surgical procedures, supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and working within a multidisciplinary team
