Job description
Our client is an established groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in the North West. Operating as a sub-contractor for most of the major and regional housebuilders, as well as other market sectors.
The company have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Buyer that is looking for a step up in responsibility and gain invaluable experience and to progress their career with a highly reputable company, within a high standards and high rewards environment.
The Role:
Support the Senior Buyer in the procurement of materials, plant and services to ensure operational needs are met
Monitor price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
Taking calls from site and noting requirements
Maintaining information flow to the construction team
Liaise with technical department to ensure material specifications adhered to
Updating the material logs with dates / costs / issues
Negotiating Rates
Monitor performance and development of relationships with suppliers
Experience Needed:
Previous experience working as an Assistant Buyer for a groundworks/civil engineering contractor or construction company
Broad knowledge of residential groundworks is preferred
The ability to build and manage relationships with suppliers and site teams
Rapport building ability
Strong negotiating skills
