Senior Network Engineer - Firewall and Networks
Job Purpose The Senior Network Engineer within the Firewall and Network team is a key technical expert within Redcentric Cloud Services Group, working to improve the management, maintenance, and operation of network infrastructure for the benefit of the company and its customers. You will work with colleagues, other internal teams, and customers, to deliver high quality connectivity solutions and managed services for both On-Premises, Public Cloud and Private Cloud based customers. We aim to deliver excellent levels of performance and service availability, improving efficiency by deploying the latest technologies and adopting modern tooling, including increasing levels of automation. The role requires excellent communication skills, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to apply the latest skills to constantly evolving services, working closely with the Firewall and Networks and architecture teams. Key ResponsibilitiesBe able to effectively deploy and maintain a broad range of network equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls, from a wide variety of different equipment vendors
Deploying and maintaining customer Public Cloud Networking solutions using Azure and AWS networking technologies (e.g. AWS Transit Gateway or Azure Virtual WAN architectures)
Have broad experience of different network management/monitoring platforms and tools
Understand security architecture, implement, and maintain effective security policies and practices
Create a great customer impression of the company's technical skills, dedication, method, and approach
Work to industry best practices and meet the company's obligations under various compliance standards
Create high quality documentation of internal processes and systems, develop/mentor junior engineers
Embrace industry trends, improve internal processes, and constantly evolve tooling
Be part of the on-call rotation for any incidents that may occur - this is a 1 in 4 rotation.

Developed technical skillset, able to work closely with architectural experts and management
Demonstrate CCNP level knowledge of network technologies (certifications beneficial, but not required)
Public Cloud Networking and Connectivity Experience (certifications beneficial, but not required)
Deep knowledge of network security practices and risk management
Clear and concise verbal/written communication skills
Prior background providing network connectivity, managed services, data centre infrastructure
Experience of VMWare NSX and advantage
A thorough understanding of core network and security principles
Broad knowledge of switched, routed and wireless networks (running on different vendor hardware)
Deep understanding of WAN networking, MPLS, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF
A thorough understanding of Public Cloud Networking solutions in Azure and AWS
Be able to configure and troubleshoot VPN technologies and IPSEC tunnels
Demonstrable experience working with a variety of firewall platforms and security enforcement solutions including some of the following vendors or products: Checkpoint, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto, Arbor PeakFlow
Experience with Cisco/Meraki cloud-managed switches, firewalls, and access-points
Familiarity of working practices in data centre environments
Knowledge of network configuration automation and templating tools, e.g., Ansible, Puppet
Understanding of network/systems architecture and design principles
Working knowledge of UNIX operating systems, preferably with some scripting ability, e.g., Python/Shell
Experience of network monitoring and trending platforms (Nagios, Observium, LibreNMS, PRTG, ElasticStack, Splunk)
Knowledge of relevant industry trends and embracing of new technologies/developments
Keen commercial awareness and understanding of business priorities
Knowledge of multi-tenant and service provider environments highly advantageous
