Job: Head of Science (Trust core subject leadership team)

Employer: Central Trust Team (Multi Academy Trust), deployed across Trust school sites as the need arises

Location: Lewisham (central office), with travel to school sites in Southeast London

Annual Salary: MPS/UPS inner London £36,811 - £57,018 + TLR up to 1D £15,690

Contract: Permanent, full-time (flexible working considered)

Start date: 1 st September 2024

Aston Education is working with a respected Multi-Academy Trust looking for an existing or aspiring Head of Science to take on a new role raising the attainment and development of science, as part of a core subject leadership team, across the Trust in Southeast London.

You may be based in one trust school or across a number of their schools in Southeast London. As a Head of Science, you will oversee the overall leadership and management of Science within a trust school taking responsibility for the delivery and impact of the curriculum and quality of teaching to ensure that outcomes continue to improve.

You’ll develop the secondary science curriculum in line with national changes and revised qualifications and you’ll monitor, manage, and support the performance of teaching staff across the department.

You’ll be committed to on-going professional development of colleagues in the science team, and you’ll work collaboratively with the Heads of Science across the Trust.

Experience and skills required include:

• BSc in Science and QTS/QTLS
• Experience of holding a position of responsibility within a Science department
• Can motivate students at all levels of ability
• Will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with an excellent track record of progress and results
• Mentoring and training of newly-qualified teachers
• Will have knowledge of the National Curriculum, GCSE and A-Level developments
• Proven track record of raising achievement
