ROLE SUMMARY:
About the role
Job Title – Secondary English Leader of Learning (Teacher)
Location – Based in the UK - working remotely from home
Start Date - ASAP
Position
Full time, Permanent Contract. You will be contracted to work 42 weeks of the year, 35 weeks of which being our contact time and a further 4 weeks will be directed during half-terms to complete other activities such as course writing, marking, revision sessions etc. The timing of directed weeks/hours will be confirmed and staff will be off for the remainder of the half-terms. It is expected that staff will work the necessary hours to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.
Working Hours
- 37.5 hours per week
- Live Teaching is from Monday to Friday
- Live Teaching can be between 8:30am – 4:40pm. This includes co-curricular activities and our meetings which we have scheduled for the end of the school day
- An extracurricular activity is mandatory for all teachers moving forward and will take place twice a week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspire, motivate and provide purposeful subject knowledge for students within the school
- Be up to date on current research and emerging pedagogy and disseminate this to staff through active engagement in professional development with the learning community
- Take a leading role in maintaining a positive and inspirational learning climate in the subject specialism and, where appropriate, the integration of your subject learning across the curriculum
- Support the self-evaluation of the school’s effectiveness and the development of priorities for improvement
- Assist in maintaining and developing a high-quality school environment and profile and act as a role model by their professional conduct and disposition
- Promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and any class or group of students
- Provide guidance and advice to students on educational matters
- Provide or contribute to assessments, reports and references relating to students in a timely manner
- Participate in meetings and staff CPD opportunities
- Undertake any other work as specified by their line manager
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Be based in the UK.
- Qualified teacher status
- Ability to teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Knowledge of the correct Safeguarding procedure
- Knowledge of the education sector in a teaching profession or above
- Ability to work well in teams
- Change and business improvement-focused
- Able to work effectively in dynamic and changing environments
- Experience of working in the primary, secondary or college sector
- Experience of working in state or independent school sector
- Experience with creating resources and the ability to review and enhance our current course delivery
- Computer literate with the ability to teach online using technology applications
DESIRABLE
- Current or previous experience in a pastoral role
- Ability to teach English Language and Literature at KS5.
