Interim Environmental Services Manager Job Ref: Redditch & Bromsgrove (HQ) TCL 16886 Pay Rate: £230.77 per day PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months City: Redditch Hyrid working This role is the service lead for place encompassing grounds maintenance, Trees, Road Sweeping and Litter picking. The role is responsible for the leadership of these operational teams during the interim period that a new permanent member of staff is recruited. Experience within a similar role will be essentially to provide support to the Head of Service during this transitional period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead professional, competent and customer focused teams.
- Ensure that all my direct reports are managed so that we function effectively as a management team.
- Manage transformation to ensure continued service improvements and efficiencies.
- Lead transformation within Environmental Services including scoping, design, leadership, roles and logistics to ensure they are delivered effectively.
- Be responsible for developing plans that enable sustainable service change
- Support the effective skills transfer to enable the organisation to further develop its internal capability for delivering sustainable improvement.
- Manage all services to ensure a consistency of work, excellent customer service, effective planning and prioritising of tasks and will enable efficient delivery of work to meet customer demand.
- Work strategically with other departments, service areas, other councils and external partners to optimise service delivery.
- Manage and develop projects, contracts and service level agreements.
- To effectively manage the departments’ resources including staff, vehicles, plant, buildings and equipment to ensure we can meet demand.
- Ensure that Environmental Services teams can function effectively and consistently to develop a team working ethos.
- Play an active role in the Environmental Services management team to ensure a strategic joined up approach to service delivery and that we are working to strategic purposes.
- Understand and develop the measures that the service needs to function effectively and efficiently, ensuring that measures data is collected, collated, interpreted and used.
- Develop policies and strategies to ensure that our strategic purposes are delivered.
- Spend time in the workplace across the department to understand the work and service demand.
- Develop a close working relationship with Councillors including advising them on policy and service delivery and attending committee meetings as and when required.
