The role
As a Lifting Operations Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a key role in the day-to-day safe planning of lifting / heavy transport operations SPMT`s (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) across the Rosyth site. This will include the daily liaison with various teams to ensure all lifts are planned and carried out in a safe manner. 

Day to day, you will play a pivotal role within a central team to support the sites lifting and heavy transport requirements. You will be responsible for the management, organisation, planning and control of lifting operations across Rosyth, ensuring compliance with LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) regulations. 
Your key responsibilities will include: 

• Provide planning, resourcing and observing lifting / transport operations on the Rosyth site. This will include the identifying of equipment, personnel, and methods for undertaking various lifting / transport operations. (Lifting operations vary from heavy lifts more than 200Te using the 1000Te capacity Goliath crane to fleeting 200kg pipe through a ships compartment.)    
• Conduct risk assessments of lifting / transport operations, identifying hazards and mitigations to suitable control risks to an acceptable level.
• Management and producing of calculations as necessary to complete lift plans / transport moves.
• Knowledge and understanding of engineering requirements to support lifts/moves including the ability to understand & discuss technical drawings with operational & engineering staff.
• Production & co-ownership of processes relating to Lifting Services scope of work.

This role is full time 37 hours per week - Monday to Thursday and will be based on site at Rosyth. 

Essential experience of the Lifting Operations Engineer:

• Experience within a lifting operations role.
• Experience in developing lift plans / rigging drawings using AutoCAD.
• Experience in the use of Liccon crane job planner or similar software.

Qualifications for the Lifting Operations Engineer:

• NVQ level 5 Appointed Person or CPCS Blue card Appointed Person qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
