Job description
Are you an experienced Mechanical Development Engineer who looks after the end to end design and development process with a strong technical background? We have an exciting opportunity to work for one of our Leading Automotive Engineering Client with offices across the UK.
Job Title: Mechanical Development Engineer Location: Peterborough Rate: £37.00 per hour (Hybrid working 3 days in office) Job Type: Contract 12+ Months - PAYE The Role: The role will involve taking part in, and have significant responsibility for, the end-to-end design/development process for engine components and systems. This giving you true product ownership and the opportunity to see the products through to volume production. Other duties to include;
- Execution of Core Engine System validation consisting of static & dynamic rigs, dyno and machine testing
- Conducting risk assessment through effective FMEA generation on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
- Be capable of understanding technical issues as they arise and execute root cause analysis through relevant tools, methods, data analysis and testing to resolve the issue
- Understanding of techniques to deliver effective cost reduction on components and larger systems
- Conduct or generate reports to support component and system design reviews
- Working in a multi-disciplined team to ensure solutions meet customer, durability and functional requirements
- Developing strong relationships with suppliers to ensure design solutions are aligned to high quality and cost expectations
- Conduct or generate reports to support component and system design reviews
- Maintain communication to peers, team leader and stakeholders with progress against planned activities
Requirements
- Strong technical background (HNC or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering)
- Knowledge of Diesel engine core systems such as Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems
- Good understanding of Manufacturing principles & processes
- Validation experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rig and complete system testing.
- Self-motivation and an ability to manage and deliver tasks to meet established commitments.
- Excellent communications skills & Teamwork
