Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference?
Are you a brilliant communicator and skilled writer with excellent attention to detail?
Can you build productive working-level relationships across business functions and with external government and regulatory bodies?
Do you have an understanding of senior-level reward and the operation of Remuneration Committees?
Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an HR Governance Manager, working closely with the HR Director and Heads of HR. With His Majesty’s Government (HMG) as our majority shareholder, we are now required to share a regular flow of formal papers and documentation on a wide variety of people-related topics with Government and potential investors. While these will cover a range of people-related content, the initial focus will be on senior-level reward and supporting the operation of SZC’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee. If successful, a big part of your role will be authoring high-quality papers and documents and to build and manage productive working relationships with the HMG shareholder team.
This is a senior role, suiting someone with a strong HR knowledge and particularly a strong ability to write a good paper. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of working with HMG.
This role presents a fantastic opportunity to join Sizewell C and it’s HR function at a key stage of development and a rare opportunity to work on a major infrastructure programme which is pivotal to ensuring the UK’s energy security.
Our HR team is set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively. This is not principally a business facing role, so we can be flexible on location but travel to London and Suffolk will be required.
Working to the Head of HR Operations, this role will also provide executive support to the HR Director who is responsible for leading the interaction on people-related content with HMG and other Shareholders. This role will not only be responsible for preparing people-related briefing papers, but also the coordination and delivery of corporate activities such as the creation of HR business plans, budgets and supporting the effective operation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Key stakeholders are: UK Government, relevant Government departments and agencies including Treasury BEIS, EDF, Financial investors and institutions, Regulators, Alliance partners and local communities as well as senior leaders across SZC
Main Accountabilities:
This is a stretching role that requires someone who is comfortable with working in a fast-paced and changing environment and has experience of preparing high-quality executive briefing papers and papers for Boards and Committees on people related topics, especially related to remuneration. Experience of the workings of Board-level committees such as Remuneration Committees will be helpful.
The role would suit someone comfortable with experience of working with senior stakeholders both internally and externally, a background in business management and who is comfortable managing a varied and wide-ranging work.
The role holder must be an effective communicator, a skilled writer of business documentation and with exceptional attention to detail.
It is likely that the successful candidate will have experience of working closely with national or regional government.
