What you will do in your working day
In this role you will be responsible for providing accounts administration support, ensuring the role aligns with departmental strategies and changing business dynamic or goals of the organisation.
The purpose of your role as an Accounts Assistant Apprentice is to provide accounts administration, including supporting the purchase ledger, subcontractor accounts and main accounts department. Your duties will include, but is not limited to:
- Provide finance and accounts administration for the Group Companies
- Making sure that customer and supplier accounts are accurate (reconciling)
- Receiving, processing and filing paperwork, e.g. invoices and requests for payment
- Inputting information into the Accounts system, COINS
- Keeping track of figures by working with spreadsheets
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers and external suppliers
- Liaise with the Finance Manager/Purchase Ledger Supervisor to understand all necessary aspects and needs for operational development
- Report to the Finance Manager timely and accurate reporting as requested by them, either on a regular or ad hoc basis
- Be personally responsible for your own personal continuous professional development, ensuring that he/she remains fully skilled, trained and effective in their post
- Any other tasks deemed reasonable and relevant within the Accounts Department
The training you will be getting
- Level 3 Accountant Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
- You will complete an 18-month apprenticeship which includes 1 day per week at the PETA training centre in Cosham
- You will be supported every 6 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- There is the possibility for the suitable and successful candidate to move into a full-time role upon completion of the apprenticeship
