About the role

For the Environment Department, as the Strategic Lead for Compliance and Business Development, you will make a positive impact in ensuring that all of the Services in the Environment Department work as effectively as possible together and total more than the sum of the parts. By doing this, you will be helping to make the borough safe, clean and one in which our residents take pride.

You will manage the Environment Technical Support Team's highly varied workload and focus on delivering outcomes for residents and businesses. 

 

The Technical Support Team provide support to a wide range of disciplines across Environment, to mention a few: Building Control, Law Enforcement Team, Highways Licensing, Environmental Public Protection, Food Safety, Highways Licensing, a Local Land Charges Search Enquiries Service and support to Corporate Property Services. 

 

Your management duties will include providing the Strategic Director, Directors and Senior Managers with accurate information and advice. Areas of compliance for monitoring, reporting and developing include: the Environment Performance dashboard, Health Indicator Dashboard, Culture Scores, Key Performance Indicators, Departmental Risk Register, over-sight of corporate Key Performance Indicators and project work to forward the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. You will act as a transformation lead in matters of accommodation and new ways of working and will also lead on assurance and contribute to the development of council and department-wide business plans and policies.

 

You will report to the Director for Public Protection and be responsible for the performance of Technical Support, Local Land Charges Search Enquiries and for ensuring that both the strategic and operational needs of Environment compliance and business development are met. 

 

This role requires you to take a leading role where you will motivate staff, deliver and understand the technical processes (that support front line services), making sure the activities within Environment compliance are impactful and support the department’s and council’s priorities.

 

To apply for this post, you must have extensive experience in project management, business support, performance monitoring, report writing and of delivering services in at least two areas listed within the job description. The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham operate a hybrid working model. For this role, a regular presence in the Office is required, including to host Technical Support Team days in the borough.

Educated to degree level with experience of managing similar technical support, compliance, and business development functions.
