As the Head of News - EMEA, you'll be at the forefront of delivering high-quality news and analysis across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. From air and land to sea and C4ISR defence domains, you'll shape our editorial content, chase exclusive stories, and ensure top-notch reporting.
What You'll Do:
- Lead by example, driving the pursuit of exclusive stories and shaping editorial content.
- Manage a team of specialist staff reporters, fostering their growth and ensuring top-quality output.
- Handle commissioning and travel budgets effectively.
- Edit content and develop compelling features and webinar programs.
- Collaborate with our Communications team to provide expert commentary on breaking news events.
- Represent Janes at various events across the region, gathering content and building partnerships.
Requirements
- Keen interest in defence issues, with a strong news sense and sound judgment.
- Significant experience in a senior editorial role.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment.
- Degree-level education in a related field preferred, but equivalent journalism experience highly valued.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with sharp editing skills.
- Deep experience in commissioning technical news and analysis.
- Desire to collaborate across departments and present compelling data-driven stories.
- Commitment to Janes' core editorial standards of independence and impartiality.
- Strong team player mentality, working closely with global peers.
