Team Manager

South Gloucestershire Council

Location

Bristol | United Kingdom

Job description

Team Manager - Localities (Long Term Child Protection)

How you'll make a difference

At South Gloucestershire Council we are immensely proud of the skills, abilities and compassion of all our social workers and wider team members – demonstrated even more so during the pandemic. As a Team Manager you will provide support, recognition, guidance, and professional oversight to team members within your practice area.

This is a newly created post following additional investment into our Children's Social Care, it is intended to be based from the Patchway Hub, however this is pending final decision. As such you should be aware and able to work from any of of council locations.

What will you be doing?

The Locality model promotes collaborative working with our Early Help, Health and Education colleagues and our Locality teams are based within 3 communities across South Gloucestershire – Patchway (North), Yate (Central) and Kingswood (South).

In localities, Social Workers and Managers get to know their children, young people, and families, along with the communities within which they live, and the partner agencies that are also able to offer support and intervention.

Our approach to working with children, young people and families is strengths based. As a Team Manager in Locality Services, you will:

What we need from you

You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so must have a full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle insured for business purposes, or have alternative appropriate means of travel.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different

Tim is one of our newer Team Managers and as progressed his career in South Gloucestershire is just one of our examples of this investment.

“Working at a smaller authority, you might think that there are fewer opportunities to develop and progress, but I think the opposite is true. We’re a relatively small authority and we have strong connections with services managers and heads of service.

We have strong links between teams and there are good opportunities to experience different parts of the service, which is something which I’ve definitely benefited from.”

Our teams at South Gloucestershire Council are making a real difference to the lives of people who live, work and learn here.

We've achieved a great deal, but we need talented and dedicated people to ensure we continue to make a difference.

We’re making a difference, be part of it!

More information about our wider Children's Service can be found at and any questions can be directed to our Recruitment Advisor Joe Scrase at [email protected]

To apply please ensure you include your covering statement that demonstrates your knowledge, skills and experience that demonstrate how you meet or exceed the attached role profile.
