Workshop Engineer
Salary of GBP23,920 per annum
Mon– Friday, 8 am – 5 pm
40 hours per week, additional hours as required: "On Call" week including weekend cover that week.
East Sussex BN23 6QF – full driving licence essential, at least 18 months
Purpose of the Workshop Engineer Role
Provide a workshop based engineering role repairing, servicing and maintaining wheelchairs around the East Sussex area.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Workshop Service:
- Conduct repairs servicing and maintenance as directed by the Warehouse Manager / Service Manager
- Process all associated paperwork concerning repairs and servicing accurately on a daily basis
- Ensure infection control policy is followed at all times
- Undertake Engineering work in terms of service, repairs and scrapping and to be accountable for the outcomes
- Undertake Admin duties as required and update the system
- Ensure all parts used are allocated through correct process, recorded on the system
- Strict adherence to operational procedures
- Be professional in all communication, in the way company is represented to our clients
- Stocktake– to assist with annual and interim stocktakes as required
- There is a requirement for this role to participate in an emergency call out rota and to support the field service duties
Field Service:
- Conduct service calls as directed by the Warehouse Manager/ Service Manager
- Ensure vehicle is safe, clean and tidy at all times, report any issues
- Process all associated paperwork fully and accurately and return it to the depot once completed
- Be professional in all communication and adhere to operational procedures, policies and instructions
This job description shall not limit your role, the Workshop Engineer will also be expected to carry out any other duties that your Manager feels are within your capabilities and skill set including Field Service duties in line with operational requirements. There will be a requirement for you to undertake driver awareness training and frequent driving assessments in respect of the support for Field Service duties.
Person Required – Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
- Organised and can work to a plan
- Good communicator both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to drive , full driving licence for at least 18 months.
- Background and experience in mechanical or electrical engineering welcome
- Ideally qualified to GCSE level / NVQ level 1 or equivalent.
- Satisfactory DBS disclosure
- Training will be provided on wheelchair engineering
- Trustworthy and reliable
