Job description
Our client currently has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Department based in Alness. The successful candidate will support the Head of Finance / Financial Controller in the operation of the Finance department, ensuring efficiencies and financial standards are met and continually developed.
The purpose of the role is to deliver a high-quality service, both internally and externally, working to the highest standards of quality and Customer Care whilst championing the vision and values of the business. The main integral requirements of the role include, but are not limited to, due diligence to financial corporate governance and attention to detail in transactional processing.
Key Responsibilities:
Support in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Preparation of key month end reconciliations.
Prepare cash flow forecasts.
Support in the preparation of the weekly financial report as required.
Process transactional data in accounts package, including: Sales and purchase invoices, Bank transactions, Petty cash, Accruals, prepayment and other standard journals
Manage payments and receipts at bank.
Prepare aged debtors and creditors reports.
Prepare aged debtor and creditor forecasts.
Support in the preparation of year end accounts and audit schedules
Support in the preparation of statutory returns, including HMRC VAT returns, Office of National Statistics.
Liaise with bank, auditors, suppliers and customers and other key stakeholders.
Ensure standard operating procedures are followed at all times.
Support the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures.
Work proactively to ensure best practice is recognised and adopted across the group.
Any other typical finance responsibilities linked to good corporate governance.
Person Specification:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a finance team at a similar level preferred.
Experience of Excel and Word, with strong Excel reporting skills.
Knowledge of Sage 200 and/or other accounting systems.
Good written and verbal communication skills and able to work collaboratively across teams.
Strong relationship building skills at all levels of the organisation.
Ability to work on own initiative and provide support across the Finance Team.
Ability to prioritise, manage and deliver tasks to agreed timeframes.
Adaptable and flexible approach to work, diligent with high attention to detail.
Reliable and personable with flexible “can do” attitude.
A high degree of confidentiality in dealing with confidential information.
