Currently recruiting for an experienced Operations Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an E&P company based in Kingswells, Aberdeen.
The Operations Engineer will lead specific scopes within the Shutdown team, in order to prepare, validate, control and coordinate enabling activities, as well as shutdown execution and close out. The post holder will provide engineering support and assurance services to assets to ensure safe and cost-effective production across Operations, Facilities, Integrity and HSE functions. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of onshore development and offshore execution of planned campaign maintenance scopes across UK Operated and Non-Operated assets.
The Operations Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for safe and efficient development and delivery of all operations aspects within planned maintenance shutdowns to achieve the required work scopes with minimum production impact and in line with all shutdown objectives.
- Responsible for developing and delivering robust isolation philosophies which should be implemented successfully at each shutdown.
- Key stakeholder for safe and efficient development and delivery of operations elements of the campaign maintenance plan.
- Accountable for supporting implementation of associated continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support in closing out lessons learned from previous shutdowns and campaigns.
- Providing input and ownership of the risk register, identifying and closing out actions.
- Coordinating onshore job owners and sponsors, ensuring timely delivery on shutdown / start-up plans, isolations, materials, permits, and engineering deliverables.
- Mobilising offshore and / or arrange suitable offshore presence to represent the Shutdown Team during preparation and execution phases of the shutdowns.
- Assisting in development of shutdown preparation and execution plans in accordance with company processes and procedures and managing alignment with the relevant asset plan and production delivery plans.
- Managing shutdown scope control to ensure safe and predictable delivery of agreed shutdown objectives.
- Assisting in identifying all foreseeable risks associated with execution plans and implement appropriate contingency measures.
- Coordinating tasks with the other team members within the Asset team to ensure safety, production and maintenance requirements are conducted in the appropriate manner.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships across the UK organisation (onshore and offshore) and with vendor / contractor organisations to deliver results and ensure sufficient use of labour and expertise.
- Ensuring a member of the team mobilises offshore to supervise the safe and timely execution of the agreed maintenance outage plans or support smaller scopes from onshore.
- Assisting in the operations sphere for the development of maintenance campaigns, managing the overall work programme.
- Ensuring long-term campaign maintenance plans are built with scopes bundled together, aligning all maintenance and inspection associated with a given system and forecast. Align to the relevant asset plan and production delivery plans.
- Assisting the team in the development of work packs, schedules, permits, isolations, deck-plans and any other deliverables required to support safe execution of the work scope in accordance with the relevant company processes and procedures.
- Assessing any opportunities to reduce reliance on vendor personnel for tasks which could be undertaken by company and develop a knowledge-transfer plan to address any findings.
- Tracking and managing cost associated with assigned work programmes, adhering to budget and forecast commitments.
- Supporting development and maintenance of shutdown and campaign KPI’s.
- Operating electronic MMS.
- Operating electronic PTW system.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A relevant Engineering Degree qualification would be preferred.
- Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Operations Engineer type role – relating specifically to the support of offshore assets and maintenance / shutdown scopes within the North Sea oil and gas industry - is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with a North Sea-based E&P company / Operator, would be preferred.
- Applicants should possess offshore technical discipline experience, alongside project management, maintenance management and planning experience.
- Applicants should be familiar with project planning tools and concepts (e.g., Primavera, critical path, logic resourcing, progress reporting and re-baselining).
- Applicants will be expected to have knowledge of HSEQ, production, maintenance management, asset and operating integrity processes and procedures.
