Job description
What you will do in your working day
The successful candidates will be working at the GBA site based in Grimsby, however the intention would be for all Apprentices to occasionally work at the newly refurbished GBA facility based in nearby Stallingborough - ACT-2, Osborn Road, Stallingborough, Immingham DN41 8DG.
- Support Vehicle Body Repair - Assist experienced technicians in removing, repairing, and replacing vehicle body panels and components according to manufacturer specifications.
- Prepare Work Area - Assist in preparing the work area and vehicles for repairs, ensuring compliance with safety measures at all times.
- Utilise Repair Tools - Learn to operate and maintain body panel repair tools and equipment, including alignment jigs, spot welders, and bonding tools.
- Identify Materials - Develop the ability to identify construction materials to determine correct joining techniques and manufacturer specifications.
- Communicate Supplementary Damage - Assist in identifying and communicating supplementary damage to senior technicians for accurate repair assessment.
- Assist in Vehicle Paint Preparation - Prepare vehicles for painting by sanding, masking, and priming surfaces under the guidance of senior painters.
- Assist in Vehicle Paint Spraying - Support experienced painters in applying primer, basecoat, and clear coat to vehicles, ensuring an even and smooth finish.
- Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while performing paint spraying and body repair tasks.
- Learning and Development - Actively engage in learning opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge of vehicle paint spraying techniques and products.
The training you will be getting
· Level 3 Vehicle Panel Damage Technician Standard
· A bespoke programme of technical and vocational training
· Functional skills in maths and English if applicable
The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated work based trainer who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This Apprenticeship requires attendance for classroom based sessions once per week at the Grimsby Institute Campus, Nuns Corner, Grimsby, DN345AB.
