Service Development Officer

Location: Southampton City Council

Duration: 6 months

Rate of pay: £23.38 per hour

The Role

The Service Development Officer is required for a 6-month opportunity to work within Southampton's Integrated Commissioning Unit (ICU) across the Council and NHS to commission sustainable, high quality services which meet the needs of local people now, and in the future.

The successful candidate will be joining a small, highly motivated, team led by a Senior Commissioner, that has an impressive track record utilising the disciplines of commissioning and contract management to deliver transformational change and service improvement for the benefit of our local residents.

Responsibilities

• Lead a programme of work which will deliver positive outcomes for the population of Southampton through securing high quality service provision and development of innovative ways of working
• Ensure the market is able to respond appropriately to the needs of Southampton's residents
• Ensure cost-effective use of available resources within a challenging financial context
• Manage a number of tasks and projects at any one time, keeping track of the work, and organising your time appropriately
• Home Care - supporting/managing market, contract/performance management, day to day management of procurement vehicle, relationship management, quality improvement
• Direct Payments
• Transport
• Other work as required

Requirements

• Good understanding of health and social care
• Experience of working within the commissioning cycle to ensure a sufficient, diverse, and sustainable supply of high-quality care and support services to meet the needs of the local population
• Highly motivated individual, with excellent organisational skills
• Ability to maintain a substantial and varied workload
