At a Glance Contract Type: Fixed term/secondment to end October 2024 Location: Bracknell based with hybrid working with the expectation to go into the office 1 day a week Salary Range: £35,300.00 - £52,200.00 per annum Partnership Level: 8 About the role The Waitrose Quality and Technical department have a fantastic opportunity to join their team providing dedicated support to drive operational excellence as a Technical Operations Coordinator. This would be an amazing opportunity for a recently qualified Food Scientist (or equivalent discipline) to kick start their career in the Quality & Technical department with Waitrose & Partners. The successful candidate will provide support and resource for the Quality, Regulatory & Technical department and will form part of a team to drive efficiency and consistency in all aspects of product quality, safety, legality and due diligence upholding brand reputation. The purpose of the Quality & Technical team is to lead the development of and compliance to, a product safety, legality and quality framework for Waitrose & Partners. Ensuring that via the creation of effective policies, systems, and ways of working we enable the category teams to effectively deploy these standards both internally and within our supply base and other Stakeholders. What’s the role about? The purpose of the Quality, Regulatory & Technical team is to consistently deliver market leading quality and tasting products to our customers, executed with technical excellence.. We act as subject matter experts who advise, guide and support to ensure we continue to both delight and protect our customers and strengthen our brand. The critical purpose of this role is to coordinate and execute the key support functions of the Quality and Technical Department, enabling them to ensure we maintain product safety, legality and quality as per business requirements. The successful candidate will work across all product areas of our Own Label range and learn from expert Technologists and Technical Managers to support their learning and development. The ideal candidate will be proactive, have excellent attention to detail and exceptional organisation skills to provide a professional service to the team. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to Manage, build and produce detailed routine and ad hoc reporting for the department as appropriate, to enable measures on compliance of key KPIs, standard and non standard (incident related) reporting, driving efficiency and continual improvement of data accuracy and communication. Support day to day activity of the department - supporting SMEs in Quality and Technical to protect product safety, legality and quality. Activities include supporting/coordinating process improvements based on changes to ways of working on a diverse range of subjects - from product information management through to compliance reporting. Supporting delivery of accurate specifications and coordinating stakeholder groups to deliver training or product launches. Essential skills and experience Demonstrable ability to conduct complex tasks accurately including use of internal and external databases Ability to manipulate data and present to the receiver in a coherent form driving project outcomes, all delivered in a timely manner. Passion for accuracy and customer service. Self-motivated and the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines under pressure. Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a high level of accuracy. Knowledge of allergens Energy, positivity and enthusiasm, passion for product Desirable skills and experience Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline (Food Technology, Food Science or similar). Experience of working in a fast paced Quality/Technical department. Ability to use data reporting to a complex level to ensure the Department has access to the data, communicated in an optimal way, to ensure deliverables are being managed and that decisions are made based on the key data available in our systems. Experience of working in a fast paced department with multiple/competing pulls on their time with the ability to prioritise accordingly. Proficient in Google suite and comparable systems.
