Job description
Aquatic Engineering & Construction, part of Acteon Group, is a global leader in laying and retrieving flexible and semi-rigid products from the seabed in support of the renewables, oil and gas and telecommunications markets. The company has proven ability in shallow and deep water, and extensive experience of off- and onshore installations, transpooling, recovery and decommissioning.
Aquatic Engineering & Construction are looking to add an Accountant to their Aberdeen team on a 3 month fixed term contract. The Accountant will be responsible for the provision of accurate and sound management reporting adhering to tight deadlines. Responsibility for Accounts Payable function outside of the month-end.
Duties:
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts to the FC for review and consolidation within a fixed timetable for both internal purposes and Group reporting
- Management of month end processes: cut off adjustments, Balance Sheet reconciliations, calculate month end accruals and prepayments, month end and year end journals, and preparation of monthly management reports; Provide an overview of variances to budgets and forecast
- Undertake job profitability analysis to check on the accuracy of costs and revenue for monthly reporting; work with Project Team to provide the commentary on projects performance and variance analysis
- Support the FC in preparation of monthly forecasts covering an 18-month rolling period, budget and year-end processes
- Prepare and record financial transactions and maintain the accounting ledgers
- Responsibility for Accounts Payable function
- Support the preparation of rolling cash flow forecasts and credit control
Requirements:
- Experience of working effectively without close supervision and supporting colleagues
- Comprehensive knowledge of global financial reporting requirements
- Ability to apply accepted accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions
- Ideally possess a degree or equivalent in relevant field, but qualified by experience applicants will be considered
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in a busy finance department
- Strong working knowledge of Excel is a must
- knowledge of Kofax or other automated AP function would be an advantage
- Working knowledge of computerised accounting packages, preferably Navision and Jet reports, but not a requirement
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills
