Job description
Quality Engineer sought by a world leader in the manufacture of automotive components. The company provides quality products, services and solutions worldwide with customers in over 150 countries. Our client is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team at this fast-paced plant in Wednesbury.
The Role: Reporting to the Quality Manager, as Quality Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that continuous improvement is made in all Production MEQ Quality Deliverables (e.g.: RPPM, CPPM, IPPM, SPPM, Quality Costs, Customer Product Audits and Warranty / JD Power). Your day to day duties will include:
- Ensure that customer and internally identified quality issues are resolved using the problem solving methods (8D Report, Problem Solving Document “PSD”, PCAD, Kepner-Tregoe, etc.)
- Preparation of necessary corrective / preventive actions, follow up, verification and release of corrective actions
- Assure that all Quality activities are performed according BOS, TS 16 949, ISO 9000 standards and specific customer requirements
- Execute the Management Representative duties: ensure that BOS processes are implemented and maintained and any need for improvement and ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the plant
- Ensure response to customer issues in a timely manner, implement containment and champion problem solving
- Evaluate results of customer product audits and providing of feedback to the organization (e.g. production, engineering etc.)
- Support customer regarding corrective and preventative actions
- Analyse parts returned through warranty system together with the responsible BU Engineer
- Initiate customer responses and action plans.
- Maintain local Quality System according to the requirements of BOS, TS 16 949, ISO 9000
- Develop and train plant personnel in application of methodologies and techniques
The successful Quality Engineer will demonstrate the following skills and experience: - Degree or similar qualification (or qualified by experience)
- 3 years in automotive environment
- Experience with OEM’s and/or Suppliers
- A proven track record in managing a team successfully
- Trained in standards for Quality Management Systems (QMS): IATF16949, Application of QMS tools and techniques
- Application of QMS tools and techniques
- APQP, FMEA, Inspection planning, SPC, DOE, QFD, 6 Sigma
- Knowledge in PC software applications, e.g. Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of the AIAG Quality planning and Control Plan standard, FMEA´s, PPAP´s, Dimensional layouts, gage/fixture design and Performance/Material testing
- Manufacturing Quality system experience and customer communication activities
