Job Advert Role Description Priory Hospital Barnt Green are recruiting for a Cook / Chef to join their bank catering team. Core working hours are between 7am and 8pm (As the advertised role is bank, you would be able to pick shifts up at your convenience between these hours)
You will report to the Head Chef/Cook and together with your Catering Assistant colleagues you will ensure that patients, staff and visitors are offered tasty and nutritious meals which are prepared to a high standard. You will be supported by an experienced Support Services Manager and together with your colleagues from the Maintenance and Housekeeping Teams, you will ensure that the healthcare team are supported to deliver high quality care. You will be responsible for; - Undertake the planning, preparation and cooking of meals, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
- Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation (in the absence of the Head Chef).
- Ensure the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food products and the checking/reconciliation of deliveries. Ensure that wastage is minimised.
- Assist the Head Chef by researching and creating new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality and compliment healthy eating guidelines.
- Supervise assigned catering staff ensuring their quality of work continues to meet required operational standards and the company’s Assured Safe Catering policies and guidelines
- Organise and prioritise own work within established procedures, referring complex issues to senior catering staff.
The skills/experience you will need to show; - City & Guilds or NVQ2 equivalent.
- Preferably level 3 in food hygiene or basic food hygiene with intentions of level 3.
- Knowledge of food Allergens & dietary requirements. (Specialist dietary training will be provided)
About Priory Barnt Green Priory Hospital Barnt Green is located in the stunning Lickey Hills Country Park, 10 miles south of Birmingham City Centre. We have thirty-three beds across three wards including a ten bedded female NHS Psychiatric Intensive Care, a thirteen bedded mixed gender NHS acute service, and a bedded private acute ward beds for both men and women. In addition to providing inpatient services, the hospital has a large Outpatient department and regional conference facilities.
The hospital opened in March 2022 and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a new and developing team, in a brand new hospital located in a beautiful setting.
