Job description
Are you an Occupational Therapist who would like to explore a rewarding career experience?
About Us
Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales.
Your Role
Service Line:
Mental Health Psychiatric Intensive Care (PICU) and Mental Health Acute Services
Summary of the site
Cygnet Bury is a large site with 15 wards across three separate hospitals. We have a Regional Lead of Occupational Therapy and three Head Occupational Therapists on site to support the different services at Bury.
Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for up to 13 service users in our PICU service. This is within a face paced environment.
You will be based with a supportive team of OTs and OTA’s experienced in the service. The team works across a range of other specialisms including low Secure forensic, Medium Secure Forensic, Deaf service and an Acute service. Our team is passionate and dedicated to the care and treatment of their service users but also to the development of student OTs and preceptorship OTs.
Our Adult PICU service in Dunes hospital provides care to people requiring an emergency admission to a mental health setting to assess, treat and support in a crisis. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user to develop the skills for occupational function they require to move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.
Each ward has their own Occupational Therapist and Activity Coordinator with additional support from an OT Assistant covering 2 wards.
All our services are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the service care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into care.
Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:
We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times for recent graduates, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some placement experiences during your training. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills for anyone making the transition from student to practitioner. This preceptorship programme has received much praise over the last 2 years of Band 5 OTs who have felt it has significantly supported their transition in to confident clinical practice.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist in the company to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
