Job Title: Linen Assistant

Salary/Band: 2

Care Organisation: NCA Pennine Acute - Oldham

Contract type and hours: Permanent position, Post 1 Rochdale- 37.5hrs per week, Mon-Friday 6.30am -2.30pm

Post 2 Bury - 24hrs, Mon - Thurs 8.0am-1.pm, Fri 8.0am-12noon.

Main purpose of the job:This job exists predominantly to pack and where appropriate deliver processed laundry of set quantities to Ward/Departments and other Customers of the Laundry Service in order to meet their linen requirements.

Assist in the movement of such work either to the transport vehicle or to the Cages / Trollies for the Ward/Department to ensure that deliveries are made promptly and safely.

Identify and remove substandard items & used linen as found and redirect to rewash, repair or condemn as appropriate to maintain the quality of linen and service provided.

To record the number of items packed and issued to customers on a day to day basis, to enable traceability of work.

When required, to assess the amounts of linen to be issues to wards or departments in variance to the set quotas on the linen stock levels found or information supplied.

To respond to urgent ad-hoc requests for linen and to pack or distribute such linen as required to enable customers’ needs to be met.

Disinfection of laundry cages / Trollies between soiled, clean and deliveries to avoid cross infection of linen. During periods of low workflow the post holder will work in other areas of the Laundry / Linen Room as directed by the Linen Service management/Supervisory Team.

To undergo training when required if identified as appropriate by the Trust. Ensure that safe working practices are maintained at all times and that duties are performed in accordance with the Health & safety policy and other relevant statutory regulations.

The post holder will comply with the Trust Policy and management instruction with regard to health & safety and Fire Prevention and must not endanger themselves or others. To follow any other duties, which may be reasonably required by your Manager or Supervisor on an ad-hoc basis.
