Inspiring and enthusiastic member of staff required to deliver inspiring lessons up to A Level Mathematics, including GCSE re-sit classes. We are looking for a full or part-time (minimum 0.7 FTE) member of staff with dynamism and passion for their subject to start in the new academic year. With a friendly, supportive team, and exceptional College facilities, this is an exciting time to join our growing College.
Applications from ECTs and Teachers in Schools and Sixth Form College sectors are welcome. A full mentoring programme is arranged to introduce all new staff to sixth form college systems and procedures and to support and encourage professional development. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the team, and inspire our students. We expect high performance from all our staff and candidates should demonstrate their ability and suitability to both the role and the culture of the College.
The Maths department is one of the largest and most successful departments in the College. Student recruitment numbers are very good and the Department teaches over a third of all students who attend the College. The department is pro -active in broadening its curriculum offer to meet the needs of its students and courses offered include:
The department has 10 members of staff who are an experienced team of specialist teachers who work collaboratively to develop a problem-solving approach to teaching mathematics.
Exam results are excellent with a 100 % A Level pass rate in Maths, Further Maths, Statistics and in Core Maths. Student progression to university is very high with the majority of students going on to their first-choice universities to study subjects such Mathematics, Engineering, Physics and Medicine. The Department also offers an Excellence Programme to support students aiming for the top universities.
Students are actively encouraged to extend their studies outside the classroom with a range of extra-curricular activities including educational and university trips and participation in the U.K Maths Challenge.
The Department has recently moved into newly refurbished classrooms providing an up-to-date learning environment in a College with already excellent facilities.
Start Date: Tuesday 27 August 2024
Salary: FTE £32,895 to £48,355 pa, depending on experience (including fringe allowance), pro rata for part-time (minimum 0.7 FTE). These figures include the recently announced 6.5% pay increase.
