About the Pub

This Tavern on the Green is traditional pub located on the main street in Altrincham town centre, backing onto the attractive Goose Green area of the town. The pub has a warm décor that will create the feel of a nice quality pub whilst remaining a traditional pub. Running parallel to the bar is a comfortable arrangement of traditional tables and chairs perfect for a casual or social drink. A dining area is located at the back of the building with an attractive fireplace and contemporary fixed seating either side of the door. This is serviced by a good-sized kitchen and in total the pub can cater for 70 covers. The high street frontage of the Tavern on the Green is deceptive; its attractive traditional appearance gives no clues to the gem of a beer garden it houses to the rear. It is an excellent space with planters and hanging baskets and a roof to shelter customers. With seating for around 20 people, bow-top wrought iron style gates lead out onto Goose Green. The Tavern trades significantly well during the day and there is an opportunity to put in a simple food offer using a good-sized trade kitchen and to focus on being a community pub at night.

Regional Manager's Thoughts

The Tavern has traded under a number of guises recently but will eventually settle into an effective trading platform. My vision for the pub is for an operator with a passion for craft beer to drive the business in the direction of a quality specialists’ destination by the autumn. The introduction of a food offer would also benefit the business to attract more shoppers and workers for lunchtime trade.

Altrincham is a quality suburb of Manchester and is an affluent commuter town, partly because of its transport links. The Tavern on the Green is located on the main road with plenty of passing trade and a large Sainsbury’s and cinema complex nearby. The pub is a short walk from the bus and train station, and close to Hale and Bowden. The property benefits from residing on a popular circuit in the town on the lovely Goose Green.
